A rectangle of white mother-of-pearl sits inside a wide bevelled frame, whose sloping polished walls step down to hold the shell in a rubover setting. Mother of pearl is nacre, the inner lining of a mollusc shell, and light reflecting off its fine layers gives the surface soft pink and green tones that shift as your hand moves.
Because the shell is a natural material, each ring has its own pattern. At the shoulders, the band splits into two slim strands that rise to support the face. The face measures 18.5mm by 12mm and sits on a 2.5mm band.
