This pendant is cast as a round medal, its face engraved in relief with a portrait of Christ wearing the crown of thorns, worked with visible depth across the hair, beard, and features rather than a flat outline. The engraving carries fine detail throughout, from the individual thorn lines in the crown to the texture in the beard and flowing hair. Finished in a satin surface rather than high polish, the medal has a softer, more matte presence than a mirror-bright piece would, keeping the relief detail legible under most lighting. It hangs from a fine curb chain with a spring ring clasp.
